There are still many months to the release of the next EA Sports football title but the first rumors are already beginning to circulate and more and more rumors lead us to believe that the next FIFA could bring among the novelties the cross-play, that is the possibility of playing against (but also with, in the case of co-op matches) people who have a different console, allowing, for example, those who have a PS5 to show off those who have Xbox Series X / S or PC!
FIFA 23 Crossplay Feature Has Been Tested in FIFA 22
The latest clues in order of time are those highlighted by the authors of the FUT Scoreboard app who reported on Twitter how in the last few hours EA Sports has added to the FIFA code some strings of code that make clear reference to cross play!
Texts like this, leave very little room for doubt:
-
Cross-Play is currently enabled! You can play with your friends from other platforms.
-
Enable Cross-Play | Disable Cross-Play
-
Cross-Play allows you to connect and play with friends and members of this game’s community regardless of what platform they play on. When you enable Cross-Play and play within someone on another platform, that other platform may receive your platform’s ID and other information necessary to enable Cross-Play.
-
By disabling Cross-Play, you will not be able to play with friends from other platforms.
There is also the hypothesis that EA Sports can test the cross-play on FIFA 22, perhaps during the summer, for example after the TOTS, in the months of July and August, to have more data and analysis to better arrange some details even before the release of FIFA 23
This is in addition to what already in February the insider Tom Henderson in an article published on the site XFire.com, had said about FIFA 23 (with the game that therefore should, at least for this year, retain the classic name, despite the rumors of the previous months) indicating in particular that the new game would finally be "Cross-play"
It is important to underline that at the moment these are only rumors, officially not confirmed by EA Sports and that we will have to wait at least the summer to have confirmation.
It is in any case reasonable to assume that cross play (probably also extended to the FUT market) can be limited to the next gen consoles Playstation 5, Xbox Series X / S, Google Stadia and the PC version that this year, finally, will use the new generation engine, based on Hypermotion Technology!
In the article Tom Henderson also talks about the inclusion in FIFA 23, the World Cup mode, dedicated to the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Similar speech for the Women's World Cup that will be held in the summer of 2023 in Australia and New Zealand (possible in this case the arrival as additional DLC in the months following the release)
When is the release date for FIFA 23?
The release of FIFA 23 is still a few of months away. Although EA Sports hasn't announced a specific release date, we can make a good approximation based on previous events.
The launch of FIFA 22 occurred on Friday, October 1, 2021. We can anticipate being able to purchase a copy of FIFA 23 on September 30, 2022, if EA Sports sticks to a Friday release in the final week of September.
